Two Canyon Houses

Perched on the edge of a lush canyon in Mission Hills, these two speculative homes respond to their unique sites. The homes are low and unassuming from the street, but upon entering, the spaces unfold and the house cascades down the canyon in a series of terraces. In each home, the main living area is located above to maximize views, while the bedrooms and family room step down to engage the steep hillside. On all levels, large pocket doors are utilized to create a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor space and provide the opportunity for the canyon to be experienced from its rim to its floor.
