North Commons Student Housing

This eight-story, 340 bed student housing complex is the fourth student housing complex of its kind in North City, a thriving new development in San Marcos just north of California State University, San Marcos (CSUSM). Located near the commercial and retail amenities of North City Drive, the building is linked to the University with an arching pedestrian bridge that provides students with convenient and safe access to the campus.
The development addresses the need to increase student housing to attract a diverse national and international student population. With the goal of increasing student engagement, the three-housing clusters are organized around two courtyards that represent expansive community space for students to meet and make connections with each other. Communal space further permeates much of the ground floor, with multiple common areas accommodating both study and lounging, in addition to integrated classrooms that are shared with the main campus. The upper seven stories include 35 residential suites that are connected on each level by common lounge areas that foster inclusion among students.
