Midway Rising

With endorsement from the California Department of Housing & Community Development and the mayor of San Diego, as well as an affirming vote from the San Diego City Council, Midway Rising was selected as the winner of this development competition.
Midway Rising is a master plan proposal to revitalize surplus land in San Diego’s Sports Arena neighborhood with 4,000 housing units and a 16,000-seat arena. Beyond ample housing and a new arena, the master plan offers the community a vibrant, walkable center. Complete with entertainment, recreation, food, and retail options, this new central hub envisions an outdoor performance venue, open parks, a hotel, and outdoor amenities that celebrate the talent and diversity of San Diego.
