December 2015 is for decking – and not just the holiday halls.
The sixth of nine major concrete pours on Portland’s new Sellwood Bridge deck took place this past Saturday. In order to load the structure uniformly, the pours are meticulously scattered in terms of where they take place amongst the three arch spans, and each span is poured in three sections.
The Pacific Northwest is bracing for stormy weather this week, but if it passes in a timely fashion, the major concrete work will be completed by the end of the month, and the new Sellwood Bridge may be open as soon as March, 2016. Stay tuned.
