On Friday, November 1, 2019, members from the City of San Marcos, California State University San Marcos, and the design and development team from Seabreeze Properties, Safdie Rabines Architects, and Turner Construction gathered in San Marcos to celebrate the official opening of the Extended Learning Building (ELB). The University opened its doors to attendees for self-guided tours of the ELB, displaying how it brings together the various departments that were once housed across the campus.
After a three-year-long development, the building soars 684-ft. above sea level, making the Extended Learning Building the tallest free-standing structure in San Marcos. With a 200-ft. concrete bridge connecting the University to North City, the ELB creates a vital connection between the two public entities and stands as a symbol of partnership as it continues to push forward in creating a downtown neighborhood that integrates a livable, workable, and walkable neighborhood.
